Javelina Hall of Fame
William Putnam, an all-conference fullback in football and a letterman in track and field in the 1951-54 period, led the Javelinas in scoring in his final two seasons and was a team captain in 1953. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1988.
He was All-Texas Conference as a fullback and lettered four years with the football squad.
Putnam, a native of Edna, now lives in West Monroe, La., where he owns a construction company specializing in chemical manufacturing plants.
