Spike Boyle was a student trainer/manager while attending Texas A&I and later served as the school’s athletic business manager for 14 years.  He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 2000.

A native of Raymondville, Boyle worked with the Javelina department in numerous capacities.  As a student he was the lone trainer and equipment manager for five seasons.  He worked in the department in 1946-50.

In his final season, Javelina head coach Dewey Mayhew said he would rather lose any player on the football squad or member of the staff than Boyle.

He served as treasurer of the “T” Association.

Boyle received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1950. He was retail manager at C&S Sporting Goods in Austin from February 1951 until December 1955 and was at Ed Byrne’s Sporting Goods in Kingsville in 1955-59.

He became the assistant auditor at Texas A&I in August 1959 and was promoted to auditor in 1966, and he held that position until his retirement in August 1985.

Boyle was the athletic ticket manager for 14 years and even after giving up the title, assisted in the office.  He handled all athletic ticket sales, for regular-season and playoff games, and also did all of the athletic reports.
