Harlan Huibregtse, from Sheboygan, Wis., was an all-conference honoree in basketball and topped the team in scoring for three consecutive seasons.  He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1983.
            
He lettered three years on the basketball team, was All-Texas Conference twice and served as a team captain twice.  
            
Huibregtse set several scoring records and had an individual record 36 points in his final game with the Javelinas.  He had scored 32 points in three games prior to that.
            
He led the Texas Conference in scoring in 1950-51 with a 17.6 average and was 39th in the nation among college division scorers.
            
Huibregtse holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&I and coached in La Feria and Hebbronville.  He currently is a teacher in Big Spring.
