As a senior, Al Harris was named First Team All-LSC after he finished his two-year career with eight interceptions. With Harris on the squad, the Hogs finished 19-5 and reached the NCAA Division II semifinals in the 1995 season and picked up two LSC Championships in that span.

Harris was a sixth-round draft choice of Tampa Bay in 1997 and was later claimed by Philadelphia in 1998 before being traded to Green Bay in 2003. He finished his career at Miami in 2010 and St. Louis in 2011.

Since Harris retired, he was also named to the Packers Hall of Fame this past year as a member of the 2020 class alongside NFL Hall of Famer Charles Woodson. He ended his career with 468 tackles and 21 interceptions along with three defensive touchdowns. In the 2003 NFL Playoff wildcard game, Harris returned an interception for 62 yards and a touchdown against Seattle in overtime to clinch the win for Green Bay, the first time a playoff game had been won by a defensive touchdown.

Harris later received a ring when the Packers won Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011, despite being injured at the time.

Following his playing career, Harris joined the Miami staff as an intern in 2012 and was the assistant secondary/defensive assistant with Kansas City from 2013-18. Harris has since served as the Dallas secondary coach beginning in 2020.

Harris was also twice named to the Pro Bowl and was Second Team All-Pro in 2007.
