Walter Reed lettered for four seasons in football and baseball in 1928-31. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1988.

He was a quarterback who led the Javelinas to two consecutive Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships in 1930 and 1931.

He was captain of the 1931 football squad.

Reed was an outfielder in baseball and led the TIAA with a .345 batting average in 1929.

After finishing at Texas A&I, Reed became a coach and public school administrator and served in those positions for 37 years.

He is retired and lives in Levelland.

A son, Walter Reed Jr., was a member of the Javelina golf teams in 1967 and 1968 and received his degree from the school.
