George Brown, a native of Anahuac and now residing in Channelview, won four Lone Star Conference gold medals while running with the Javelina track and field team.  He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1983.
            
He took the conference 440-yard dash gold in 1957, repeated in the race in 1959 and also ran on the winning mile relay unit, and was on the winning mile relay team in 1960.
            
His time of 48.0 in the 440 in 1959 stood as a conference record for years.
            
Brown also won gold medals in meets throughout his career and was a member of several of the school’s all-time best track and field squads.
            
Brown is currently employed by Armco, Inc., of Houston.
