Kay Goodwin still holds many of the women’s basketball records for the Javelinas.  Her name appears in the record book 13 times.  She was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1991.
            
She led the team in scoring and rebounding during her career and her 522 points scored in 1983-84 is the all-time high.
            
Goodwin, from West Columbia, also had the second highest total in 1982-83 when she scored 484, and her 336 points in 1981-82 and 323 points in 1980-81 rank among the top 13 season totals for the women’s team.
            
She had a single-game high of 34 and that was the school record heading into the 1991-92 season.  She had 33 points in another game.

Goodwin was named to the American Women’s Sports Federation All-America team, was named the Lone Star Conference’s most valuable player, was on the All-North Central All-Region squad, was on the Kodak All-District team, was first-team All-Lone Star Conference and was on the LSC all-tournament roster.

She is the most honored player to perform for the Javelina women.

Goodwin led the LSC in rebounding in 1984 with a 12.2 average.

She was a member of the 1982-83 team that received a berth in the NCAA Division II post-season playoffs.  The squad finished second in the North Central Region playoffs in St. Cloud, Minn.

In track and field, she went to the TAIAW regionals in the long jump and as a member of the 400-meter relay team.  Two of the school relay records were set with Goodwin running legs.

Goodwin is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.  

She received a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A&I with a marketing major.  She served in retail management at Joske’s and The Limited in 1984-87 and was a pharmacy technician in the U.S. Army in 1987-88.

She worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 1988-90 and is now employed as a plant operator for Dow Chemical in the Houston area.

Goodwin is the mother of a son, Tristan.
