Javelina Hall of Fame
James Collins was an All-American in track and field and an All-Lone Star Conference honoree in football. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1994.
He was a member of the football team in 1983-86. The 1985 squad won the LSC championship and was nationally ranked.
Collins was a four-time All-American in track. He was a three-time All-American as a high hurdler and once as a long jumper.
The Lubbock Estacado product won LSC titles in the 110-meter hurdles in 1986 and 1987.
He led the track team in scoring in 1985, 1986 and 1987. In addition to the hurdles, he also ran legs on the relay units.
Collins resides in Kingsville and is employed by Koch Refinery in Corpus Christi. He is a fourth degree Mason and a member of the Bayview Masonic Lodge #406 in Kingsville.
Collins is married to the former Barbara Arceneaux of Galveston, who is employed at Texas A&M-Kingsville and is a former member of the Javelina track team. They are the parents of a son, Dakarai.
A brother, Ricky, was a defensive back for the Javelinas in 1984-87.
