Javelina Hall of Fame
Lynette Brown was a member of the Javelina track and field team in 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987. She was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American in the long jump and triple jump. She was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1993.
She received the Gil Steinke Award, which goes to the female athlete of the year, in 1987.
Brown still holds the school record in the long jump.
The inductee is from Victoria and a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She received a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A&I in 1988.
She was an assistant boys and girls track coach at St. Joseph in 1989-90 and was with the Victoria Independent School District in 1990-91. She is currently a lab analyst at Union Carbide Corp. in Bloomington.
Brown is a past president of Zeta Phi Beta sorority.
She is married to Warner J. Scott and they have a son, Justin Ryan.
