Javelina Hall of Fame
Earl Dotson was an All-America offensive lineman player for the Javelinas in 1991-92. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 2003.
Dotson, who played high school football at Beaumont West Brook and at Tyler Junior College for two seasons, was Associated Press Little All-America, American Football Coaches Association All-America, Football Gazette All-America and C.M. Frank All-America his senior season with the Javelinas.
The 6-4, 320-pound offensive lineman was named the Lone Star Conference Lineman of the Year and was on the all-conference team in his two years with the team. He did not give up a sack in 1992 and did not allow any tackles by his opponent in six games. He was never penalized for holding or offside in his senior season and registered 78 knockdown blocks.
The Javelinas had a 16-6-1 record with Dotson in the lineup and they won the Lone Star Conference title and reached the NCAA Division II quarterfinals in 1992.
He also lettered in track and field for the Javelinas.
Dotson has started in two Super Bowls and more than a dozen playoff contests with the Packers. Despite being plagued by injures over the past three seasons, he continued to contribute to the Packers and was tagged as “one of the premier offensive linemen in Packers history”.
Because of his battling back from injuries, he was the receipt of the Ed Block Courage Award, an honor bestowed on him by his teammates.
He has been inducted into the Tyler Junior College Sports Circle of Honor.
Dotson and his wife, Janell, have a daughter, Ashley, and two sons, Jared and Austin.
