Javelina Hall of Fame
Gerald Lambert was an Associated Press Little All-America selection as a member of the Javelina football team and he also received NAIA All-America honors. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1975.
He was on the 1959 Javelina football team that won the NAIA national championship and a Lone Star Conference title.
Lambert, from McAllen, was named the outstanding lineman in the NAIA title game and in the semifinals, and he played in the All-America Bowl game in Tucson, Ariz., after his senior season.
He was All-Lone Star Conference and All-Texas College and was captain of the 1958 and 1959 teams.
He coached for 12 years before taking his current position as the superintendent of transportation for the Bryan Public Schools.
Lambert received bachelor’s degree in 1960.
