Javelina Hall of Fame
Kevin Dogins, from Eagle Lake (Rice), was a four-year letterman for the Javelinas and was All-America first team five times. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 2008.
He was also NCAA Division II All- West Region three of his four years with the Javelinas. Dogins was All-Lone Star Conference first team for three seasons and was the league’s top lineman in 1994. He was selected as a captain by his teammates in 1995 and was selected for the NCAA Division II All-Star game.
During his four seasons with the Javelinas, the team won four Lone Star Conference championships and advanced into the NCAA Division II playoffs each of the years. The team was national runnerup in 1994, reached the semifinals in 1993 and 1995 and was a quarterfinalist in 1992. The squad was 39-13 in his career.
He signed with the Dallas Cowboys after finishing his collegiate career but played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers his rookie season. He was with the Bucs for five seasons. Dogins played with the Chicago Bears for two years and finished his career in 2003 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
He is has been a real estate agent in Tampa, Fla., for the past four years.
Dogins is married to the former Erica Grace and they are the parents of a girl, Kiara, 8, and a son, Kevin, 2.
