Javelina Hall of Fame
Reggie West, a 1954 graduate of Texas A&I, is the head coach and athletic director at San Antonio East Central High School. He lettered twice in football, was a member of the “T” Association, the HPE Club, was vice president of the Student Union governing board, was All-Texas College and received Associated Press Little All-America mention. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1974.
He is the last A&I player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. He had 1,046 yards in 1952. West holds the season record for most carries (223) and has the single-game rushing record (226).
West led the Javelinas in scoring in 1952 with nine touchdowns.
West, who is from Beeville, is married and he and his wife, Fran, have three sons and two daughters.
