Javelina Hall of Fame
Ed LaTouf, an All-America offensive lineman at Texas A&I in the late 1980s, will be inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame Nov. 15 in the Memorial Student Union Building ballrooms on campus.
LaTouf is the third individual inductee named thus far.
LaTouf , from Austin (Travis), was Football Gazette All-America first team his senior season (1989) and also was named the Lone Star Conference offensive lineman of the year.
He was on the LSC team of the decade for the 1980s.
LaTouf was All-Lone Star Conference for three years.
He was a team captain in 1989.
LaTouf received the Oliver Seiko Award in 1989. It goes to the senior with the highest cumulative grade point average.
After receiving his bachelor of science degree in secondary education, he worked for Cecorp in Corpus Christi in 1989-95 and was director of sales for Dresser-Houston in 1995-2008.
He became a business unit manager for Puffer Sweiren in Houston in 2008 and was in that position for two years.
LaTouf has been director of sales for Cameron in Houston since 2010.
He served as president of the Cypress-Fairbanks Special Olympics in 2009-10 and has been on the TAMUK President’s Leadership Council since 2009.
LaTouf is a triathlon, marathon and ironman triathlon competitor.
He has run in 24 triathlons, including three ironman triathlons. He has competed in the Ironman Arizona, Ironman Florida and Ironman Coeur d’Alene in Idaho.
He has also entered four marathons and a 50K run.
LaTouf is married and his wife, Terry, from Falfurrias, is a former Javelina cheerleader.
They are the parents of two daughters: Emily, 18, and Erin, 15.
The LaToufs reside in Houston.
