Javelina Hall of Fame
Ray Hickl played at Blinn Junior College for two years before joining the Javelinas. He had played high school football at Tidehaven. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1980.
In his two years at A&I, Hickl made the American Football Coaches’ Association All-America first team and was Associated Press Little All-America and NAIA All-America honorable mention.
He was All-Lone Star Conference and All-Texas College.
Hickl was on two Javelina teams that compiled a 19-2-0 record, won two LSC titles and was national runner-up once.
He was drafted by the New York Giants and played two seasons with the club.
Hickl lives in Friendswood where he is a partner in Haloy Industrial Supply of South Houston. The company has offices in several cities.
He is the father of two children, Chris and Matthew.
