Javelina Hall of Fame
Chuck Meyer was the Lone Star Conference’s leading scorer in basketball while with the Javelinas in the mid-1960s. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1987.
He was All-Lone Star Conference for three consecutive seasons and scored more than 400 points in three of his four seasons with the club.
His name still appears in the school record book for free throw shooting.
Meyer led the LSC in scoring in 1967 with a 22.6 average. His single-game high was 40 points and his best season high was 546 points, the seventh best ever for a Javelina.
The honoree is from Kimberley, Wis., and he is the second Hall of Fame inductee from that city. Jeff Wildenberg was on the Javelina basketball teams in the early 1970s and was inducted in 1981.
Meyer is a teacher at Jefferson High School in Port Lavaca.
