Javelina Hall of Fame
Butch Pressley, a native of Taft, lettered four years in football (1959-62) and was All-Texas College in 1959, 1960 and 1962. He was on the All-Lone Star Conference team in 1960 and 1962. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1977.
He was named the most valuable back in the 1959 NAIA national championship game, and he was on the 1960 A&I team that won the Great Southwest Bowl title.
Pressley was selected to play in the Challenge Bowl all-star game in 1963.
He led the A&I team in rushing in 1959, led the squad in scoring in 1959 and 1962 and was named to the LSC team of the decade for the 1960s. He was on the A&I 50-year team.
After finishing at A&I, Pressley played in the Canadian Football League for six years. He was at Edmonton for three seasons and at Winnipeg for three.
He holds a general engineering degree from A&I and has worked with Tenneco for the past seven years. He has been in Lafayette, La., for the past five years and earlier had worked in Corpus Christi and Houston
