Bob Brandt lettered 11 times while a Javelina and this is believed to be the most ever for an athlete at the school.  He lettered in 1950-53 as an end and placekicker on the football team, lettered three times in basketball, received four letters in track and field and was on the 1952 golf squad.  He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1977.
            
Brandt, from Appleton, Wis., led the nation in rebounding as a sophomore with 23.0 a game and he was one of the top scorers with a 17.4 average.  He was an all-conference honoree in football and was All-Texas College in basketball.
            
He was a captain in basketball and track and was a member of the “T” Association.  He was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.  He was a cadet captain in the ROTC program.
            
After receiving is bachelor’s degree in 1954, Brandt coached football and basketball at Raymondville for a year.  He went into the military service two years and then moved to Galien, Mich., where he was an assistant football coach for four years, head basketball coach for two years and head track coach one season.  His basketball team won a district championship.
            
Brandt was at Three Oaks, Mich., for two years, coaching junior high school basketball and track and serving as a high school assistant football coach.  His basketball teams at Three Oaks won league titles and also a district tournament title.
            
He returned to his hometown of Appleton in 1963 and served as an assistant football coach two years, eighth grade basketball coach for one year and ninth grade basketball coach for 12 years.
            
His eighth grade team was undefeated and he had two undefeated ninth grade squads.  Each of the squads was at Roosevelt Junior High School.
            
Brandt has taught industrial education at each of the schools and he holds a master’s degree from Stout State.
            
He retired from the coaching field in 1976 but continues to official athletic events.  He has been an official since 1964.
            
Brandt is married to the former Audrey Boettcher of Appleton and they have two daughters, Debbie and Kathy.
