He was on the Associated Press Little All-America squads in 1966, 1967 and 1968. He also made the All-Lone Star Conference and All-Texas College teams.

Nix served as a captain in 1968 and led the team in receiving and scoring in 1966. At the time he concluded his career, he held most of the team’s receiving marks.

He played on teams that compiled a 30-10-0 record, won two Lone Star Conference titles and reached the NAIA national finals once. He was named to the Texas A&I all-time football team selected in 1975.

He and his wife, the former Sandy Johnson of Kingsville, reside in Monterey, Calif., where he is attending a Navy post-graduate school. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from A&I in 1969 and was in the Marines until 1974. He worked in Iran from 1974 until last February.
