Javelina Hall of Fame
Dr. John McKeever has served as the Javelina orthopedic surgery consultant for the past 25 years. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 2006.
He is the orthopedic trauma surgeon at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi as well as a clinical instructor for the family practice residency program at the Texas A&M University School of Medicine.
Earlier in his career, he was in orthopedic surgery private practice in Corpus Christi and was medical director at Wilson Childrens’ Hospital.
McKeever holds a bachelor’s degree from Wabash (Ind.) College and his medical degree from Jefferson University of Medicine in Philadelphia. He did an internship at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans and n orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane’s CharityHospital in New Orleans.
He was at the Scottish Rite Childrens’ Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., and at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Hospital in Los Angeles before moving to Corpus Christi in 1972.
McKeever was a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve medical corps and was stationed at the Naval Station in Guam in 1966-68.
His professional organizations are numerous. They include being a member of the Nueces Medical Society executive board and is executive vice president of the medical staff at Christus Spohn Memorial in Corpus Christi.
He is married and he and his wife, Bridget, are the parents of four sons and a daughter.
McKeever is the son of Dr. Duncan C. McKeever, who was a nationally known orthopedic surgeon in Houston and brothers Grant and Clark McKeever are orthopedic surgeons in Houston.
