Javelina Hall of Fame
Bill Evans was a member of the most successful Javelina golf team in history and has the most impressive individual statistics compiled by an A&I golfer. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1980.
He was on the 1969 team that won the Lone Star Conference title, the only league championship won by the Javelinas in the sport. He then led the team to an NAIA District 4 title and to an eighth place finish in the NAIA national tournament.
Evans, who played at Odem High School, was fourth in the NAIA national meet and received NAIA All-America first team honors. He had been medalist in the NAIA district meet as well as in the LSC tournament.
Prior to his senior season, Evans had finished seventh in the LSC standings as a freshman, fifth in the 1967 conference meet and seventh in the 1968 tournament.
Evans currently lives in Sinton where he is with Coonrod Electric and he also serves as a pro at the Sinton Municipal Golf Course.
