Javelina Hall of Fame
Jarrell Hayes, a native of Belton, lettered in football in 1959-61. He led the team in passing in 1959, 1960 and 1961 and served as a captain of the 1961 squad. He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1978.
He quarterbacked the 1959 team that won the NAIA national championship and was quarterback of the Lone Star Conference championship teams in 1959 and 1960.
Hayes was on the 1960 team that won the Great Southwest Bowl title and was on the 1960 and 1961 All-LSC teams.
He was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, served as president and vice president of the “T” Association, was a member of the Business Club and was in the ROTC program.
Hayes currently resides in Humble.
