KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville football and volleyball programs both turned in solid performances over the weekend, resulting in redshirt-junior
Aaron Dilworth (Corpus Christi, Texas) and senior
Haley Hutchinson (Georgetown, Texas) both taking the 11th version of the IBC Bank Player of the Week awards.
Dilworth led the Javelina football receiving corps with a career-high 119 yards on 11 catches for two touchdowns in the Hogs' 35-31 loss to West Texas A&M to wrap up the road portion of the 2018 schedule.
The Corpus Christi, Texas, native caught a three-yard pass from junior
Koy Detmer Jr. (Somerset, Texas) with 8:07 remaining in the third quarter for his first score of the evening and added a 25-yard touchdown catch with 11:31 showing on the clock in the fourth to wrap up his performance in the contest.
On the year, the Flour Bluff H.S. prospect has six touchdown catches to 467 receiving yards and has caught at least one touchdown pass in his last three games.
Hutchinson powered the Javelina volleyball program to a 2-0 mark to wrap up the final weekend of the regular season with a five-set win over MSU Texas and a four-set victory over Cameron. The Georgetown, Texas, native hit at a .217 clip with 3.89 kills per set to lead the Blue and Gold one final time on the court.
The Rouse H.S. product also added four service aces, four block assists and 13 digs over the weekend to round out her performance. She now sits three blocks away from topping the total blocks list in program history. It is the second award for Hutchinson of the year after she grabbed the honor for the third week of the season after hitting at a .265 clip with 2.12 blocks per set.
The Javelina volleyball program will begin postseason play on Thursday, November 8, with a Lone Star Conference Tournament matchup against Angelo State, with first serve at 12 p.m. CT. The Javelina football program will wrap up 2018 at home with an LSC contest against UT Permian Basin for Veterans and Military Appreciation day and will also honor its 17 seniors prior to the start of the game.
