Brandon Jones (Houston, Texas) put on a one-man show on his way to a 41-yard scoop-and-score for the football program as the duo were tabbed the IBC Bank Players of the Week for the eight iteration of the award.
Braham has carried her momentum throughout the 2018 Javelina volleyball season as she has reached double digit kills in seven of her last eight contests, reaching the 19-kill mark on four occasions, and tied the program record for kills in a match with 30 in a five-set win over Western New Mexico.
The Kingswood, Texas, native had a .303 swing percentage in a four-set loss to Angelo State as she buried 14 kills in the match. She added 17 assists and missed the triple-double by two digs.
Brabham followed up with nine kills in a three-set lost to UT Permian Basin but rebounded with her 30-kill performance in the win over the Mustangs. She hit .500 in the match, was just shy of her season high in assists with 25 and recorded her seventh triple-double of the year with 11 digs.
On the season, the Kingwood H.S. product is leading the Blue and Gold in kills and kills per set at 307 and 3.65, respectively, while also leading the team in attack percentage at .265. She is also leading the Lone Star Conference in kills per set, 13th in swing percentage, and is second in the NCAA in triple-doubles with seven.
On the football field, Jones led the Hog defensive unit with five tackles, 1.5 for loss, and recorded the third defensive touchdown of the year for the Javelinas, the first of his career.
Jones broke up the read-option run from then-No. 12 MSU Texas by stripping the ball from Jake Purcell, recovered the loose ball on his own and sprinted his way to the 41-yard touchdown.
For the year, Jones is third on the team with 42 tackles, leads the way with nine for loss, and has two sacks, 13 QB hurries, one pass break up, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
The Javelina volleyball program will return to the SPEC for the next three matches, first in a matchup this coming weekend against No. 22 A&M-Commerce on Friday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. CT, before taking on Texas Woman's on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. CT. The football program will head out on the road for the first time in a month with an LSC game against No. 9 Tarleton on Saturday, Oct. 20, with kickoff at 6 p.m. CT.
