KINGSVILLE, Texas – For the sixth time this season, senior outside hitter
Madison Brabham (Kingwood, Texas) took home the IBC Bank Player of the Week award as she tied the NCAA lead in triple-doubles for the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball program, while junior transfer
Koy Detmer Jr. (Somerset, Texas) tallied all three touchdowns for the Javelina football program to grab his second such honor.
Brabham strung together a line of 17 kills, 19 assists and 11 digs in a four-set loss to then-No. 22 A&M-Commerce on Friday, October 19, before leading the Blue and Gold to a four-set win over Texas Woman's the next day on the heels of a 16-kill, 25-assist and 15-dig performance.
The Kingwood, Texas, native pushed her triple-double season total to nine, good enough to tie her for the NCAA lead as she is currently matched with Katie Adams from Wisconsin-Parkside. She also leads the Lone Star Conference in kills per set with 3.74 and is ninth in hitting percentage at .271.
Brabham has reached the double-digit plateau for kills in 22 of TAMUK's 27 contests in 2018 and has tallied at least 10 assists in 24 matches. She currently leads the team in kills, kills per set, points, second in assists and fifth in digs.
For the Hogs, Detmer Jr. snuck into the end zone for his first score at the 11:37 mark of the second quarter in the contest against then-No. 9 Tarleton on Saturday, October 20. His first score tied the contest at seven apiece before he found junior
Tyler Wilson (Bay City, Texas) for 14 yards later in the same quarter to even the count yet again at 14-14.
The Somerset, Texas, native connected with redshirt-junior
Aaron Dilworth (Corpus Christi, Texas) late in the third for his 12th touchdown of the year through the air. Detmer Jr. has thrown for 1,535 yards so far in 2018 and has rushed for two additional scores on the ground.
The Javelina volleyball program will hit the road for the final time this season as they take on Eastern New Mexico on Friday, October 26, in Portales, N.M., before facing West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, on Saturday, October 27. Meanwhile, the football program will host Western New Mexico this Saturday at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium for the 2018 Homecoming Game sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT.
