GAMES 19-22: Baseball Searches for Fifth Straight Series Win, Welcomes ENMU

Texas A&M-Kingsville enters weekend series 11-7 overall and 5-2 in the LSC, good for second place

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) –
Texas A&M University-Kingsville (11-7, 5-2 LSC) returns to Nolan Ryan Field for a four-game series versus Eastern New Mexico University (5-10, 1-3 LSC) on March 14-16.

Game one is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. with a twin bill beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday. First pitch will be at 1 p.m. on Monday.

The Javelinas have taken all four series' this season and are 64-37 all-time against the Greyhounds. However, ENMU escaped Kingsville with a 6-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader on April 19 last season, ending TAMUK's six game win streak and seven-game home win streak.

Fresh off a one-hitter, Hayden James (3-2) earned Lone Star Conference (LSC) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) South Central Region Pitcher of the Week honors. The senior threw his first shutout in a Javelina uniform, punching out seven, while limiting the Aggies to just two baserunners.

The Javelinas are currently ranked No. 7 in the NCWBA South Central Region after beginning the season third. The top six teams in the region will compete in the NCAA South Central Regional.

On the Cusp of History
Javelina fans are witnessing two historical milestones as head coach Jason Gonzales is just six wins away from 200 wins as skipper of the Hogs. In fact, 'Gonzo' surpassed Hector Salinas earlier this season to take sole possession of second place on the all-time wins list in school history.

Closer Ryan Scott, fresh off tying the single season record with 14 saves, enters the Eastern New Mexico University series with 19 career saves, just six shy of tying for the career mark in Javelina history.

Putting Up Zeros
Matt Terrones and Hayden James dominated their way to shutout performances in wins over Cameron University on March 8. The duo combined to allow just four hits. The shutouts were the first for both players.

For his efforts, Hayden James (3-2) was bestowed the conference's pitcher of the week and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's South Central Region Pitcher of the Week after throwing a one-hitter. The senior hurler punched out seven.

Close Games? Count on the Hogs
Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the series vs. Eastern New Mexico University 5-2 in one-run ballgames, proving that this year's pitching staff - despite being overhauled after the graduation/exhaustion of eligibility of the 2014 pitching rotation - can hang with the best of them.

When leading after 6.0 innings, the Javelinas are 10-2 this season. Dustin Luna (0.82 ERA), Trey Taylor (1-0, 1.86 ERA) and Weston Silverberg (1-0, 1.54 ERA, 16 strikeouts) have been influential in the early season success, forming one of the league's deepest bullpens.
