Biography

2015 (Jr.): Led the team with three home runs in 36 games… made 33 starts… hit .274 with 14 RBI, four doubles and 10 runs scored… went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double in win versus No. 10 Southern Arkansas (Feb. 7)… 2-for-4 with a solo shot against Newman (Feb. 13)… 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles and an RBI at Houston-Victoria (March 4)… 2-for-4 with two runs scored in victory versus Eastern New Mexico (March 15)… 2-for-3 as designated hitter in win against No. 13/6 Angelo State (March 23)… solo shot at Tarleton State (March 29) to begin a six-game hit streak (March 29-April 11)… career game at Eastern New Mexico (April 18), going 4-for-6 with a home run, five RBI and three runs scored in blowout win… four-hit game began second five-game hit streak of season (April 18-25)… followed with a two-hit performance against No. 23/22 St. Edward’s (April 21)… seven multi-hit games… 114 putouts at first base and eight assists… committed just one error.
 
Frank Phillips: Attended Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas for 2.5 years… tallied 100 RBI, 14 home runs, 30 doubles and a .302 batting average in two seasons… WJCAC all-star.
 
Cisco JC: Attended Cisco Junior College for a semester… did not play fall ball.
 
High School: Earned three letters as a member of the Amarillo High School baseball squad… third-team All-District 2-5A as a sophomore and junior… district MVP in 2011… also named third team all-state as a senior… finished senior campaign with a .495 batting average, 57 RBI, 12 home runs and 25 doubles to lead the Sandies… graduated with a 3.6 GPA.
 
Club: Played three seasons with Amarillo Baseball Academy in Amarillo, Texas.
 
Personal: Born Aug. 26 in Amarillo, Texas… son of Dori Artis… chose TAMUK because of the town and the close knit community… admires grandfather because he taught him how to handle adversity… wants to pursue a coaching career at the collegiate level… kinesiology/physical education major.
