Kingsville - Junior right-handed pitcher
Garrett Nail was named as a second-team all-conference pitcher the Lone Star Conference announced on Wednesday.
Nail, a transfer from Angelina College, finished with a conference-high 85 strikeouts at the end of the regular season, 21 more than the next closest pitcher which was his teammate
Tyler Schumann. Nail also compiled a 6-6 record in 15 appearances and held opposing batters to a .235 batting average, fourth best in the conference.
The native of Sweeney, Texas, posted historical marks in his debut season with the Javelinas, as his three-strikeout performance in the LSC tournament tied Nail with Dallas Ponder for the seventh most strikeouts in a single-season. Nail also recorded the most strikeouts in a single-game in the LSC since the 2021 season with a dominant 14-K performance against Lubbock Christian.
Nail joins
Ulises Quiroga as the second-consecutive Texas A&M-Kingsville pitcher to be named to the all-conference second team. Nail's selection to an all-conference team makes it 34 consecutive years that the Javelinas have had a student-athlete on an all-conference team, dating back to the program's inception in 1993.
