ARLINGTON, Texas (Tennis) – Fourth seeded Texas A&M University-Kingsville (12-9, 2-3 LSC) opens the Lone Star Conference Tennis Championships with a quarterfinal dual match against No. 5 University of Texas of the Permian Basin at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 21 at the Arlington Tennis Center.
The Hogs downed the Falcons earlier this season 9-0 and look to repeat that performance to set up a date with top ranked Midwestern State in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Victoria Romanovskaia and Valerie Ruiz (6-13) will be the top doubles team against UTPB followed by Lisa Carvajal and LSC All-Academic honoree Tabata Lua (9-6). Viviana Ortiz and Erika Larrea will be the final tandem as they hold the best doubles record at 11-5. The singles order for the Blue and Gold will be Carvajal (9-8) in flight No.1, Romanovskaia (12-9), Ruiz (8-13), Julia Rauer (12-7), Stephanie Baerman (9-7) and last but not least, Larrea (11-3) in flight No. 6.
The final two teams standing on Friday will square off for the championship on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
