PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Tennis) – The win streak reached three as Texas A&M University-Kingsville (9-5) defeated its second NCAA Division I opponent this season, upending Prairie View A&M University (6-22), 4-3, Saturday afternoon on the Prairie View Courts.
NOTE: Division I counts doubles as one decision.
Tabata Lua and Lisa Carvajal defeated Sydney Thomas and Tatiana Ruhl, 6-3, in doubles No. 2 and Erika Larrea and Viviana Ortiz clinched the doubles win with a 6-4 victory in No. 3.
In singles play, Larrea began with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in flight No. 6 to put TAMUK ahead 2-0. The Panthers tied the match at 2-2 with wins in No. 5 and No. 1, respectively, but Julia Rauer regained the lead for the Javelinas 3-2 with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) win in No. 4. The victory was clinched when Victoria Romanovskaia took No. 2 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.
