WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Tennis) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (5-16) season came to a close Friday at the 2016 Lone Star Conference Championships as the Javelinas fell to No. 15 and top seeded Cameron University (20-3), 5-0, at the MSU Tennis Center.

Martina Urrutia and
Nadia Grlj played a competitive match against No. 15 Alina Gorina and Zhenia Shviadok in doubles No. 1, but the Aggies escaped with an 8-6 win.
Madi Gomez and
Marija Dimitrovska nearly upended Samantha Woods and Mathilde Thibaudat in doubles No. 3, 8-6.

Falling behind 3-0,
Mariaxi Herrera led singles No. 1 5-4, but Cameron advanced to the LSC Championship match Saturday with a 5-0 victory after taking flights No. 5 and No. 6.

Herrera and Dimitrovska were two of three seniors on this year's squad under second-year head coach
Autumn Williams. The duo went 39-29 as a team and earned consecutive All-LSC selections. Herrera set the standard with 47 career doubles victories and Dimitrovska followed with 46. In singles play, Dimitrovska finishes with 43 wins, including the single season mark of 28, set last season. Herrera earned 39 singles victories, the majority coming in singles No. 1.

The Javelinas are ranked regionally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Central Regional rankings and Herrera is in the top 10 in singles play.
