BISHOP, Texas (Tennis) – No. 43 Texas A&M University-Kingsville (2-4) dominated in its home opener Saturday at the Bishop High School Tennis Courts, defeating Howard Payne University (4-3), 9-0.
 
Lone Star Conference Athlete of the Week Mariaxi Herrera and Marija Dimitrovska won doubles No. 1, 8-0 and Nadia Grlj and Madi Gomez followed suit with an 8-3 victory in doubles No. 2 to give the Javelinas a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.
 
Herrera and Dimitrovska won their respective singles flights (No. 1 and No. 2), 6-0, 6-0, Grlj took singles No. 3 6-2, 6-0 and Gomez picked up her third win of the spring with a 6-0, 6-1 win in flight No. 4. Martina Urrutia earned her first singles win of the spring with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles No. 5 as the Javelinas collected back-to-back wins to improve to 2-4 in the spring.
 
The Hogs head to Austin to take on Dallas Baptist March 4 at 3 p.m.
