ARLINGTON, Texas (Tennis) – No. 42 Texas A&M University-Kingsville (0-2) registered three singles victories in Friday's neutral-site match versus the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (1-1) but the Lady Lions were able to defeat the Javelinas, 6-3.

Mariaxi Herrera and
Marija Dimitrovska earned their first singles wins of the spring in flights No. 1 and No. 2 with a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 1 by Herrera (No. 10 in Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Central Regional singles rankings) and 6-1, 6-1 by Dimitrovska (No. 20 in ITA singles rankings).
Madi Gomez improved to 2-0 in her first collegiate season as the freshman defeated Tristen Brunson in singles No. 6, 6-3, 6-4.
Nadia Grlj played a close No. 3 singles match that ultimately went to the Lady Lions.
Erika Larrea and Gomez nearly upended Madison Carr and Kendra Dinsmore in doubles No. 3, 8-5.

The Hogs head to San Antonio to battle No. 11 St. Mary's University (2-1) Sunday at 2 p.m.
