Javelinas finalize 2023 football schedule with West Georgia

TAMUK and West Georgia agree to two-year home and home agreement

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville has finalized its schedule for the 2023 football season after announcing a two-year home-and-home scheduling agreement with West Georgia of the Gulf South Conference on Tuesday.

"We are really excited to have finalized our 2023 schedule with a quality opponent like West Georgia," said TAMUK Athletic Director Steve Roach. "Scheduling non-conference games can be difficult at times, but this agreement not only improves our strength-of-schedule but will also provide our student-athletes and fans with a unique opportunity."

The first meeting between the two programs will come in week two of the 2023 season on Sept. 9 at Javelina Stadium, with TAMUK making a return trip to the Peach State in 2024.

The Wolves posted an 8-2 record in 2022, ending the season ranked #19 in the AFCA Coaches' Poll on a five-game win streak while also going undefeated on the road including a, 52-42 over then #6 Delta State.

TAMUK enters 2023 under head coach Michael Salinas who in his fourth season in charge of the Blue and Gold and coming off a 2022 campaign that saw the Javs go 7-5 the best record for the program since 2016 including a postseason appearance at the FunTown RV Heritage Bowl.
