Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville wraps up its home schedule for the 2025 football season against Western New Mexico University Saturday at 7:00 pm from Javelina Stadium.
Saturday's contest will also be senior night for the Javelinas, where the team will recognize 18 seniors pregame. That list of seniors includes
Eric Barnes,
Doug Brooks,
Jared Campbell,
Blake Jaques,
Diego Jimenez,
Jakari Landry,Â
Quintin Montgomery,
Charlie Moore,
Tre Robbins,
Seven Sanchez,
Lawrence Starks,
Joe Tarvin,
Ivan Thomas,
Keion Thomas,
CJ Thompson,
Daniel Tupuola, and
Jack Turner.
On the gridiron, the Javelinas (3-6, 2-5 LSC) are looking to get some winning momentum back on their side after dropping their last three matchups while the Mustangs (2-7, 1-6 LSC) are looking to do much the same as both teams are nearing the end of their 2025 season.
The Javelinas will have more than just pride to play for however, as a pair of long standing records could be broken this upcoming weekend. Turner is on pace to break the single-season passing record, a record held by Billy Garza since 2008 that sits at 2,787 yards.
King Phillips is also on pace to etch his name atop the record book as well, needing just five catches to break Robert Armstrong's record of 67 catches set in 2012.
The duo will be given plenty of opportunities this week against Western New Mexico, as the Mustangs feature a dynamic duo in the passing game as well with QB Connor Ackerley and receiver Deuce Zimmerman. The combo has linked up for an LSC-best 10 touchdowns through just six games, Ackerley has totaled 30 passing touchdowns through the air this season as well.
Defensively, the Javelinas will need to stay their opportunistic selves to give the offense as many chances as they can. Last week Robbins joined a now 10-member strong group on the defense that has recorded at least one interception. The Hogs also maintained their streak of reaching the opposing QB in every game this season, with Landry and
Kerry North both contributing to a sack.
Kickoff for Saturday's Senior Night contest is set for 7:00 pm. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game live on FloCollege or follow that game at JavelinaFB on X.Â
