Javelina Athletics announces 2023 football schedule

TAMUK to host five games at Javelina Stadium

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville football schedule for 2023 has been officially set as announced by Javelina Athletics on Wednesday afternoon.

The 11-game regular season schedule has the Javelinas slated for five home games at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium.

The 2023 opener for TAMUK will feature a trip to Grand Junction, Colorado on Sept. 2 to take on Colorado Mesa of the RMAC. This will be the two programs' first meeting since 2014, when the Javelinas pulled out a 17-14 win.

The Javs home opener will be on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. against an opponent that will be announced later.

Lone Star Conference play will begin for the Blue and Gold on the road against Western New Mexico and new head coach Billy Hickman. TAMUK returns home on Sept. 23 for Family Weekend and a matchup against Simon Fraser who the Javs knocked off 35-7 last season.

TAMUK hits the road again heading out west for a meeting with UT Permian Basin on Sept. 30.

The team then prepares for a tough two week home stretch beginning on Oct. 7, for Hispanic Heritage Night against West Texas A&M. The next week, The Hogs welcome the 2022 LSC Champions in Angelo State on Oct. 14 for Homecoming.

Portales, New Mexico is the next destination for the Javelinas and a meeting with the Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico.

Senior night for the Hogs is set for Oct. 28 against Central Washington as TAMUK looks to avenge a 23-19 loss suffered to the Wildcats last season.

The Javelinas end the 2023 regular season campaign with two straight road games, beginning with a trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on Western Oregon on Nov. 4 and then a trip to Wichita Falls to take on Midwestern State on Nov. 11.

TAMUK enters 2023 under head coach Michael Salinas who will enter his fourth season in charge of the Blue and Gold and coming off a 2022 campaign that saw the Javs go 7-5 the best record for the program since 2016.
