Javelinas Host Final Regional Match Before Conference Championships

The Lone Star Conference Tennis Championships will be on April 21-22 in Arlington, Texas

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Tennis) – After a minor schedule change, Texas A&M University-Kingsville (12-8, 2-3 LSC) will conclude the regular season with a regional match against #12 St. Mary's University (15-2, 4-0 Heartland Conference) on April 17 at 2p.m. at the new Javelina Tennis Courts.

The Javelinas are 6-3 in their last nine matches and have a 5-3 record at home this season. Victoria Romanovskaia— who is 20th in the South Central Region— has won her last three matches in singles play, while Julia Rauer has won her last two matches and posts an 8-3 record when playing in flight No. 4. Erika Larrea has been on fire and is 9-1 in her last ten matches and has a team-best 11-5 record in doubles competition with partner Viviana Ortiz.

The Rattlers are winners of their last six matches and rank first in the South Central Region where they boast a perfect 5-0 record in in-region matches. StMU have a pair of athletes with a national rank as well as one doubles team. Camilla Clausse-Pujo ranks No. 27 in the nation and No. 1 in the region. She is on a seven-match winning streak and is 3-0 versus regional ranked opponents and 2-0 versus national ranked opponents. No. 49 Kaylin Kruseman (No. 3 in South Central Region) is currently on a six-match winning streak and is 13-3 this season including an impressive 8-1 record in her last nine matches played. Kruseman when partnered with Tyra Timm (No. 13 in South Central Region in singles play) ranks sixth in Division II women's tennis and first in the region. They are 15-2 this spring, 8-2 in their last ten matches and are riding a four-match winning streak.
