MIDLAND, Texas (Tennis) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-3, 1-0 LSC) will travel to the Bush Tennis Courts for a dual match against No. 12 North Central Texas College (0-1) on Friday, March 10 at 10 a.m.
After a week off, the Javelinas will return to the tennis courts and look to bounce back from a 7-2 loss to No. 37 St. Edward's. Lisa Carvajal (No. 17 in South Central Region) is 5-1 this spring in singles, and 7-3 in her last ten matches. Regionally ranked Valarie Ruiz (No. 12) is 8-5 this season, while both Nadia Grlj (1-2) and Erika Larrea (4-3) enter Friday's match with wins in their last single bouts. Larrea and teammate Vivian Ortiz are 3-1 in doubles play this year and has yet to lose a match since being moved to flight No. 3. Carvajal and Tabata Lau are ranked eighth in the South Central Region and post a 4-2 record this season. Â
The Lions of NCTC are ranked 12th in the International Tennis Associations women's tennis rankings for junior colleges and are fifth in Region II. They are led by No. 35 (No. 12 in Region II) Ana-Christina Orozco and regional ranked No. 24 Ann-Kathrin Zilles in singles play. The two are also partners in doubles and are ranked 21st in the NJCAA and eighth in their region. Agustina Grimolizzi and Nikita Hill sit at No. 8 for the Lions in the region as well.
