Carvajal Remains Unbeaten in Singles Play

LSC competition starts tomorrow for the Hogs against UT Permian Basin

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Tennis) – Lisa Carvajal claimed the first victory on the new tennis courts. However, No. 7 Texas A&M University-Kingsville (1-2) dropped its home opener against No. 5 regionally ranked Dallas Baptist University (2-1), 7-2 on Friday afternoon.

The Javelinas dropped all three doubles flights, but Carvajal (2-0) started singles play with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lacey Sprinkle. The Hogs would go on to drop the next four flights although Erika Larrea (1-1) claimed her first singles win of the season in a competitive match against Bianca Tijerina (6-3, 2-6, 10-7) in No. 6.

When asked about tomorrows league match, head coach Autumn Williams said, "I feel good. The team is learning every match they play. We are working on small things right now so I feel really good heading into out match tomorrow."

Lone Star Conference play begins tomorrow as the Javelinas will have a match against the UT Permian Basin Falcons at 2 p.m. on the Javelina Tennis Court.
