BRADENTON, Fla. (Tennis) – No. 43 Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-9) went 3-3 in doubles Tuesday, March 15, but fell 7-2 to No. 18 Northeastern State University (5-2) and 5-3 to No. 4 State College of Florida (5-2) at the SCF Tennis Courts.
Match OneMariaxi Herrera and
Erika Larrea picked up the first win for the Javelinas, defeating Daria Panferova and Easton Parker 8-5 in doubles No. 2.
Marija Dimitrovska knocked off regionally ranked Daria Panferova (No. 11) in a tiebreaking set, 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8). The Javelinas fell to No. 18 Northeastern State, 7-2, as the Riverhawks improved to 5-2.
Match TwoThe Javelinas started strong in doubles winning 2-of-3 matches. Herrera and Larrea picked up their second win of the day, while
Paula Saenz and Dimitrovska get an 8-4 win in doubles No. 3 against Maria Zubkova and Catherine Murphy
. Martina Urrutia is credited the third win for TAMUK, defeating Catherine Murphy in singles No. 6, 6-3, 6-3 but fall to No. 4 State College of Florida 5-3.
The Javelinas resume play tomorrow against No. 27 Rollins University at 2 p.m. at the Bert W. Martin Tennis Complex in Winter Park, Fla.
