EDINBURG, Texas (Tennis) – The 2016 Javelina tennis season is officially less than 24 hours away as No. 42 Texas A&M University-Kingsville begins the spring at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (1-3) on Jan. 31 at 12 p.m. at the Orville I. Cox Tennis Center.
Â
The Javelinas begin their second season under head coach

Mariaxi Herrera and
Marija Dimitrovska. The duo rank No. 10 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Central Region, with Herrera sitting in No. 10 in singles and Dimitrovska at No. 20. Dimitrovska and Herrera went 11-9 last season in singles play and 15-8 in doubles.
Erika Larrea and

Â
Nadia Grlj and
Tabata Lua were selected to the LSC honorable mention team and also return for the Javelinas.
Â
The Vaqueros are 1-3 in 2016 and are coming off a 6-1 loss to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The all-time series is dominated by UTRGV, with Rio Grande Valley leading the series 8-0. Formerly the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs, the Vaqueros are an NCAA Division I institution competing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
Â
A reminder to Javelina fans that the Division I policy is that doubles counts as one point and singles decision are each one point (No. 1-6).
Â
Reegan Greenwood defeated TAMUCC in her flight to tie the seventh-best school mark in UTRGV history.
Â
Williams is assisted by
Nirmal Goswami and
