LAWTON, Okla. (Tennis) – The stage is set and second seeded Texas A&M University-Kingsville (13-10) begins its quest for a Lone Star Conference championship versus third seeded and No. 35 nationally Cameron University (13-7) on April 24 at 2 p.m. at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex.

The Javelinas are hoping for the same outcome as the first time they met earlier this season on the host courts of the LSC tournament. TAMUK carried a 2-1 lead into singles play and
Tabata Lua,
Paula Saenz and
Erika Larrea came out victorious in singles No. 4-6 to upset the Aggies, 5-4, on April 3.

Earlier today, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its latest South Central Region rankings and the Javelinas sit at No. 7, two spots behind CU. In the singles rankings, two-time LSC Player of the Week and LSC All-Academic honoree
Mariaxi Herrera is No. 8 and Herrera and fellow LSC All-Academic recipient
Marija Dimitrovska are ranked sixth.

The Javelinas earned four LSC Player of the Week awards in 2015 as Herrera was selected 'POW' twice and Dimitrovska and Larrea each earned the honor once.

Herrera and Dimitrovska are 14-9 in doubles No. 1 and Saenz and Larrea and Lua and
Nadia Grlj each have double digit wins. In singles play, Larrea is 14-4, Saenz is 13-6, Herrera is 12-8 and Dimitrovska is 11-9.

No. 4 in-region Paula Gutierrez is 13-6 in the spring and won eight of her last 10 matches for the Aggies. No. 6 Angie Torres is 14-6 and No. 10 Samantha Wood is 16-2.

The winner advances to the championship match, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25.
