"Previously, when we played Midwestern we did suffer a loss, but our team has changed quite a bit since then. Our No. 1 team in doubles is playing a lot better and our No. 1 singles player [
Mariaxi Herrera] is progressing nicely," said Brown.
On the year, Herrera finished with a 6-9 record to lead the Hoggies in single play. She and her partner,
Marija Dimitrovska, lead Kingsville in doubles play with a record of 9-5 overall, and are 2-1 against conference opponents.
"I think our team is up to the challenge. They've faced a lot of adversity this season, especially with not having a full-time coach," stated Brown, "They've never shied away from any challenge that they have been given. No matter what the outcome, the entire athletic department will be proud of them."
