Box Score 2 SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State baseball team split a pair of 3-2 contests Saturday afternoon with the Javelinas winning the opener while the Rams rebounded to claim game two at Foster Field.<br />
With the split, Kingsville moves to 15-11 on the year and 9-6 in Lone Star Conference play. ASU is 17-11 overall and now 7-8 in the LSC.<br />

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Javelinas twice rallied from 1-run deficits.<br />
<br />
The Rams scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first of the opener as Tyler Coughenour reached on an infield error. He moved to second on a single by Chrisitan Summers and scored on a wild pitch after advancing to third on a grounder.<br />
<br />
The Javelinas answered right back.
Miles Holcomb walked to start the inning, went to second on a
Ryan Guedry single with one away. After moving to third as
Clint Wallace hit into a fielder's choice, Holcomb stole home to tie the game.<br />
In the bottom of the third, Christian Summers lined a triple off
Denver Diefenbach. Summers came home a batter later as David Goggin grounded out to third.<br />

Kingsville tied the game and then took the lead with single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.<br />
In the fifth, Wallace reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to third on a single by
Dustin Aguilar. Wallace crossed the plate on a single by
Derrick Walls knotting the game at two.<br />

Walls drove in the game winning run in the top of the seventh. Aguilar reached on a single to start the inning and moved to second on an Angelo State error. The Kingsville centerfielder scored on a double by Walls for the deciding run.<br />

Guedry had three hits to lead the Javelinas, while Aguilar and Walls each had two base knocks.<br />
<br />
Diefenbach moved to 5-1 on the season. In six innings of work, Diefenbach scattered four hits allowing two runs with one earned. He recorded four strikeouts and walked two.
Ryan Scott pitched a perfect seventh inning for his second save of the season and second in as many nights.<br />

Jason Zgardowski moved to 2-2 in the loss. In a complete-game performance, Zgardowski permitted three runs on eight hits. He fanned five and walked two.<br />

In the second game, Angelo State plated two runs in the first. Coughenour singled to start the inning and went to second on a balk. After moving to third on a double by Christian Summers, Coughenour scored on an error by
Justin Lee on a grounder to second. Summers made it 2-0 as he came home on a sacrifice fly by Derek Tyner.<br />

Kingsville cut its deficit in half in the fifth inning.
Brian Frazier led the frame off with a single and advanced to third on a 1-out hit by
James Black. Wallace picked up his first of two runs batted in as Frazier made it home on a fielder's choice.<br />

The Rams extended their lead back to two runs almost immediately with a 2-out rally. With two away in the bottom of the fifth, Cameron Massengill singled and went to second on a hit by Coughenour. Massengill plated on ASU's third single in a row in the inning. Summers was thrown out trying to advance to second on his game-best third hit.<br />

After stranding a runner at second in the sixth, Kingsville tried to complete the comeback in the seventh. Frazier reached on an infield error to start the inning. Pinch runner
David Massey went to second a Holcomb single and to third as
James Black flew out to center. Massey made it 3-2 on Wallace's sacrifice fly to left.<br />

Kingsville attempted to keep the inning alive as Guedry singled advancing Holcomb to third with two away. Summers, who earned his first save of the season, ended the game by sending Aguilar down on strikes looking.<br />
<br />
Cody Williams suffered the loss to fall to 1-4 despite a strong, complete-game performance. He allowed three runs with just two earned on six hits. He had three strikeouts and walked one. Blake Bass earned the win for ASU allowing two runs with earned on five hits in six innings of work. He had six Ks and no walks.<br />
<br />
The series concludes with a single game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.<br />
