Biography

In 2013: Diefenbach is the most experienced reliever returning for the Javelinas finishing 1-2 with two saves and a 5.68 earned-run average. He struck out 23 in 25-1/3 innings as a junior The righty appeared in 24 games as a reliever which is the most of any returnee and was second on the team. His two saves were second to Jeremy Flores. Diefenbach earned his only when against Arkansas-Montiecello at Minute Maid Park as he allowed no earned runs and fanned four in 2-2/3 innings of work. His two saves came in back-to- back performances at Whatabureger Field as he went two scoreless innings against St. Cloud State and three versus Loyola-New Orleans.

In 2012: Diefenbach nabbed LSC Honorable Mention honors as a reliever as he posted a 2.61 ERA in 21 games with a 1-1 record in three starts. His 24 strikeouts were fifth on the team and most by a reliever. He tossed 4-2/3 innings of relief for his first college win at St. Edwards allowing a run on six hits. Diefenbach didn’t allow a run in his final eight appearances.

In 2011: Diefenbach missed the season with an injury.

In 2010: Diefenbach made 13 appearances as a freshman. He had four scoreless outing, including a perfect inning of work at UH-Victoria.

High School: Diefenbach earned 2nd team TAPPS All-District 3-5A honors as a sophomore and was the District MVP as a junior en route to 1st-team All-State, 1st team All- Area and the Doug Drabek MVP awards. He was also Academic All-State. He led St. Joseph’s to district titles as a sophomore and junior. During his senior season, he earned first team All-District, All-Area and All-State honors. He compiled a record of 27-4 in three seasons going 14-1 with a 1.99 ERA and 96Ks as a junior. Academically, he was a member of the National Honor Society, and won the Algebra and U.S. History awards. He was also a two-time all-district choice in football.

Personal: Diefenbach is the son of Bill and Teresa Diefenbach and is studying Pre-Dentistry.
