Box Score 2 ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team evened its season record at 2-2 with a pair of wins on the second day of the SpringHill Suites Invitational on Saturday.
In the first match of the day, the Javelinas won 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-17 and 25-23) over Notre Dame de Namur. Kingsville was led in the match freshman
Kalani Giddens who had her first career double-double with 16 points and 11 digs. Meanwhile,
Dedra Brown had 12 kills and
Mariah Carlin led all TAMUK players with 23 digs.
Led by
Stephanie Johns with five, Kingsville had a strong day at the night with nine blocks in the match.
Sarah Fountain had four of the team's 10 aces and dished out 37 assists.
In the second match, the Javelinas swept Claflin 25-16, 25-17, and 25-20. Johns, who was selected to the all-tournament team, recorded 13 kills with a .458 percentage. She added four blocks. Fountain posted 34 assists, while Carlina had a team-high eight digs and a three aces.
Kingsville returns to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when Our Lady of the Lake visits Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
