Women's Tennis Returns Home for Pair of LSC Matches Saturday

Kingsville — The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team returns to the Javelina Tennis Courts this Saturday for a doubleheader featuring a pair of Lone Star Conference matchups, hosting Western New Mexico in the morning and Sul Ross State in the afternoon.

The Javelinas enter the weekend at 4-9 on the season and 0-4 in conference play, looking to pick up their first LSC win of the spring. With the conference schedule moving quickly, this weekend at home presents the perfect opportunity for Kingsville to capture two wins in front of their home crowd.

The Javelinas will look to build off the individual success of some of their top performers heading into the weekend. Annika Andersson Gomez has been nothing short of dominant this season, carrying a 12-1 overall record in singles play and riding a six-match win streak entering the weekend. The senior has been one of the most consistent players and will be a key factor in Kingsville's pursuit of their first conference win.

Meanwhile, the doubles pair of Guadalupe Tocci and Maya Donkor bring national recognition to the court, checking in at No. 22 in the country and giving the Javelinas a foundation at the top of the doubles lineup.

vs. Western New Mexico — Apr. 12 | Kingsville, Texas | 8:00 a.m.

The Javelinas open the doubleheader Saturday morning against Western New Mexico, who enters carrying a 4-9 overall record and a 1-3 mark in LSC play. The Mustangs have already shown they can get it done in conference play, so the Javelinas will need to come out sharp and set the tone early to start the day on the right foot.

vs. Sul Ross State — Apr. 12 | Kingsville, Texas | 2:00 p.m.

The Javelinas close out the doubleheader Saturday afternoon against Sul Ross State, who enters at 0-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Lobos are still searching for their first win of the season, giving Kingsville a strong opportunity to close out the weekend with a victory and make a push in the LSC standings.

A full day of home tennis gives the Javelinas every chance to make their mark in the LSC standings. This Saturday, the advantage belongs to Kingsville.
