T&F hosting ASU in Blue and Gold Battle to begin outdoor season

Kingsville - The first outdoor meet of the year for the Texas A&M-Kingsville men's and women's track and field teams will come on their home track, as they host Angelo St. in the Second Annual Blue and Gold Battle, one of the Javelinas' two home meets this season.

The meet will be Kingsville's only duel competition of the year, continuing an annual tradition against TAMUK's conference rival that began with last season's iteration, which was held in San Angelo. Field events are set to begin at 11:00 a.m., with track events slated to start at 2:45 p.m..

"I'm excited to get the outdoor season started," Head Coach Ryan Dall said. "This is a fun meet and gives all our athletes a chance to get some early marks in. It's always nice to be at home in front of our fans and families."

The Javelinas will be hoping to continue momentum not only from last outdoor season, which saw the teams combine to produce 16 All-Americans as the men finished at sixth place in the nation, but also from an excellent indoor season.

While Friday's meet will be the first outdoor competition of the year for the Hogs, they still have one indoor meet left on their schedule: a trip to Virginia Beach, VA for the 2026 D2 Indoor National Championships next weekend, at which TAMUK qualified eight athletes to compete in six different events.

All five of Kingsville's National Qualifiers who will be competing this outdoor season are slated to begin their outdoor seasons in Javelina Stadium on Friday.
