Back Home: Javelina Tennis Open LSC Play Against No. 44 Angelo State

Kingsville — Looking to snap a two-match skid on their home courts, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team opens the Javelina Tennis Center to Lone Star Conference play this week, welcoming No. 44 Angelo State for the program's home opener.

The Javelinas enter the week at 4-2 on the season and will look to rediscover the form that carried them to a strong early-season showing. After opening the year with four consecutive wins, Kingsville has dropped back-to-back matches and now faces a stiff test with an opportunity to right the ship in front of a home crowd for the first time in 2026.

One of the quiet stories of the season has been the consistency of two Swedes for the Javelinas. Senior Annika Andersson Gomez and freshman Emma Halvarsson have been among the most reliable players on the roster. Andersson Gomez enters the week with a perfect 6-0 record, while Halvarsson has gone 5-1 in her first collegiate season. Their steady play up and down the lineup has been a crucial piece of Kingsville's success, and the Javelinas will be counting on more of the same as conference play begins.

The Rambelles arrive in Kingsville as one of the hottest teams in Division II, carrying a perfect 10-0 record into their Lone Star Conference opener. Head coach Jason Potthoff's squad has been dominant in both singles and doubles play all season and enters LSC play as a formidable test for any program.

That said, Lone Star Conference play is a clean slate for both teams, and the Javelinas will have the home-court advantage on their side for the first time this season. Kingsville will look to use that edge to make a statement to open conference play and get back to their early form.
