Box Score Corpus Christi, TX - The Javelinas fell 0-7 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in an exhibition match Friday afternoon at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center, wrapping up their final tune-up before heading to Georgia in two weeks.
The Islanders swept all three doubles points to open the match. Maya Donkor and Guadalupe Tocci fell 3-6, while Andrea Landaeta and Lilly-Isabelle Muraske dropped their match 1-6. Annika Andersson Gomez and Kaitlin Blount rounded out doubles play with a 2-6 loss.
In singles competition, Tocci provided one of the Javelinas' most competitive performances of the afternoon, falling 4-6, 3-6. Emma Halvarsson battled through a hard-fought three-set thriller, ultimately coming up short 7-5, 4-6, [8-10] in a match that came down to the wire.
Despite the final score, the exhibition match serves as valuable preparation for the Javelinas, who will soon embark on a challenging three-match road trip to Milledgeville, Georgia. The team will face three opponents in three days, beginning with Augusta University on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 1:00 PM, followed by Emmanuel College on Friday, Feb. 27 at 1:00 PM, and concluding with Georgia College on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1:00 PM.
